The Center for Research in Sustainable Agriculture

The Center for Research in Sustainable Agriculture is a vital part of the Arava Institute, combining research and teaching, developing and improving water thrifty species, and disseminating knowledge to farmers.

Dr. Elaine Solowey, Director of the Center for Sustainable Agriculture and member of Kibbutz Ketura, works with desert plants, with species that can be utilized as commercial crops, medicinal crops, windbreaks, or ornamentals. The Center is also involved in research programs seeking to domesticate rare wild plants, preserve endangered species, and turn native fruit trees into crop candidates.
